Just curious, why would wolves attack the university?
Wolf   [Apr 26, 2005 at 03:41 AM]
Because wolves hate books? Laughing Wink

Sometimes when they are very hungry they atack little children ore everything what lives, this happend before. The big reason of this is because they have very les prays to hunt. Last winter outside the city Kayseri (central Turkey) some Wulfs had atacked a child for this reason (there natural preys were shot by hunters) . But the people from Kayseri brought some flesh to the mountains to help them a little bit. For so far as i have heard the next winter they want to use kangals.
Idea I didn't knew they hate to read books... Wink

Very proud and Brave dog! My family lives in Oklahoma and have had the worst time with coyotes attacking livestock its all about food (animals or humans) wild dogs become brave as they get used to the human population growing and invading their territory ...congrats!!! I hope you rewarded him for his job well done!!

this is very interesting, and Athough I respect this breed very much and its job, I wonder why they don't outlaw hunting in places like these, so the apex preditors have prey to feast on instead of pets and small children. Just another example of humans invading wild ecosystems and not expecting any consequences. like places in Florida; towns are being built near/on wetlands/esturaries and when human/small children and pets fall prey to aligators they blame the animal and not the growing population and new developement that was actual invader. But very interesting picture all the same..

athena1 - Your points are well said- but sometimes children or small dogs are much easier prey then what they would normaly hunt down; and coyotes are very quick learners. Why should they put up a lot of work when a small pet or small child is so much easier to get? Confused

To outlaw hunting will make no difference athena. Just look at Yellowstone park. There is no hunting in the park. And since wolves were reintroduced to the park the problems with the wolves have come because the wolves leave the park to kill livestock. Whether or not there is hunting really wont make much difference. The wolves will still come into contact with humans because they will prey on the easier to kill livestock.

athena1, how do humans "invade" animal territories? Humans, too, are living creatures naturally existing in the world. While our development might be excessive, humans have to live too.

Poor humans. Crying or Very sad We`ll probably live until we kill eachother. lol But it`s all natural, right..?

Thats just sad.. Poor wolf. Sad
Sonmezer   [Sep 08, 2008 at 04:23 AM]
Unfortunately the invader are always the humans. Not the Aliens like in the movies, humans are worse. Like in Africa with the Cheetah, their habitat is getting lesser and lesser, invade by farmers so they attack the life stock even if their favourite (natural) preys are Gazelles. For the farmers the first solution was to shoot them. Working Turkish shepherd dogs are the solution now. And a Cheetah is impossible to catch Smile. According the news we get from the foundation the Population of the cheetah is getting better. A wolf has the same importance for me as a kangal. Sometimes more. In fact i have a weak for all the almost extinct animals who survives. Like the Afghanistan snow leopard, very rare animals.
